LocalCast is a highly popular casting solution for Android, boasting a user base of over 10,000,000. With LocalCast, you have the ability to easily send videos, music, and pictures from your phone or tablet, as well as from other compatible apps, NAS (DLNA/UPnP or Samba), Google Drive, Google+, Dropbox, or even a webpage. And with LocalCast's wide range of supported devices including Chromecast, SmartTVs, Roku, Nexus Player, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV or Stick, Sony Bravia, Samsung, LG, Panasonic SmartTVs, Sonos, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and other DLNA Devices, you can effortlessly stream your media to any of these platforms.

If you encounter any issues with LocalCast, there is an FAQ available at www.localcast-app.com/faq for troubleshooting assistance. Please note that the FAQ is only currently available in English.

LocalCast also offers some unique features such as zooming, rotating, and panning capabilities when streaming to Chromecast and other Google Cast devices. Additionally, it provides NAS support with seamless SMB access and integrates with Opensubtitle.org for subtitles. However, please keep in mind that subtitles are only compatible with Chromecast and Apple TV 4.

It's important to be aware that the Chromecast has limited support for certain formats and codecs. While containers like mp4, mkv, 3gp, and m4v are generally supported by Chromecast, different codecs within these containers may not work. If you encounter any playback issues, please refer to the FAQ at www.localcast-app.com/faq for further assistance.

If you're using LocalCast on a Chromecast to view pictures, you can easily rotate, zoom, and pan images directly from the "Now playing" screen using the four-arrow button.

When it comes to subtitles, LocalCast supports subtitles on Chromecast and Apple TV 4. You can utilize the Opensubtitles.org integration by selecting a subtitle file while playing a video. Subtitles in the same folder as the video will be automatically added, and you can also set a subtitle folder for automatic searching. LocalCast allows you to customize subtitle timing, font, background, color, and encoding settings.

LocalCast also offers a beta feature for wireless headphones. By tapping the headphone symbol on the "Now playing" screen, you can stream the audio to your phone. Please note that syncing audio automatically may not be optimal due to network delays, but this feature is continuously being improved.

If you need to convert files before casting, LocalCast recommends using software such as Handbrake, which can be found at https://handbrake.fr/.

The LocalCast app is free to download and includes ads. However, there is an option to unlock all Pro version features through in-app purchases. These purchases remove ads and provide additional features such as device-only search and video preview when seeking on the "Now playing" screen. There are subscription options available on a monthly or yearly basis, as well as one-time purchases. Please note that LocalCast is developed by an independent developer without a significant budget for testing on various devices. It's worth noting that LocalCast gathers anonymous usage statistics through Firebase Analytics to improve user experience. However, you can choose to opt out of this feature by deactivating the option in the app's settings.
